What is Telehealth?
Telehealth is the use of video and audio technologies to support virtual appointments services between healthcare providers and their patients.
At SIMHC you can have your visit with your mental health provider or care coordinator from the comfort of your home, or our office. SIMHC’s default telehealth platform is On Call. On Call works with our agency’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Credible. Behind the scenes, On Call is using Zoom.

At the time of your appointment:
If you are attending your appointment via our On Call/SIMHC app: You will receive a link for your On Call appointment one hour and 24 hours before the start time of your appointment. If you don’t see the On Call invite in your inbox, be sure to check your spam or promotions folder. Click on the link listed below “Join Zoom Meeting” and wait for your provider to arrive. If there are technical difficulties or your provider is running late, please wait. Your provider is aware of your appointment but may have had an urgent situation come up. They know to call you if there are any technical issues.
If you are attending your Telehealth Appointment from our Ottumwa office: your medication prescriber will be using Life Size for the software. This is a secure platform that allows you and your psychiatrist to conduct a session. Only our two psychiatrist (Dr. Jimmy Mascaro and Dr Hilda Mascaro) use Life Size. Life Size is only used when you come to Ottumwa and see the psychiatrist on the screen.

Try to minimize environmental noise to avoid distraction. You need a private, confidential space for telehealth sessions.
